The Japanese
space scientists have revealed the hunting for space investigation which is
going to launch this year itself for the quarry of the celestial body.
The initiative named as Hayabusa-2 is going to
toss into the space for the long four year voyage to the asteroid -named
1999JU3. The time it reaches to the asteroid somewhere in 2018 it is going to
launch a powerful gun that is going to fire a metal billet at the asteroid’s
barren crust and then it will collect
the material which comes out from the cannon blast. If the plan works with full
expectation the particles of the asteroid will come to Earth in the year 2020.
In a press
conference the project leader at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) Hitoshi
Kuninaka said that his team is working very hard to make all the possibilities
happen for this long voyage. He also said that he is very happy that the
asteroid probe has just come to an end and very few work is remaining for the
final journey. The company has also send an asteroid explorer earlier which
came back to earth in 2010 with dust samples after a long seven year journey
and its name was Hayabusa.
The
spherical 1999JU3 asteroid, which is a kilometer across, contains significantly
more organic matter and water than the potato-shaped rock previously studied by
the original Hayabusa. This is going to help in solving the mysteries of the
solar system and its 4.6 billion years ago origin. Also the scientists at JAXA
said that the new Hayabusa-2 is based on the earlier work of the first model
that was only able to get the dust particles which have been altered by the
various forms of energy in the space in its long journey.
The scientists say that after all the
shortcomings like the communication breakage and the damages to the motors it
was still the most successful project in the field of science. The whole
project has added a feather into the hat of the Japan and there were several
feature films that got inspired from the project. The scientists are hoping
that this will also be a great success in the space and will provide the information
that will be used for the study.
